Maybe you’ve read or heard about how to not get bored and you’ve tried them all. But in the end, you still feel bored at home. There is one more thing that you can do, drawing. When bored, drawing things is fun and one of the best activities to do at home and will definitely keep you engaged for the whole day.

Now, if you’re not a painter or have never tried painting, it could be tough to figure out what to draw. There are so many options and not all of them are accessible for beginners.

Drawing Eyes

Other types of eyes drawing are staring eyes and closing eyes. Staring eyes drawing shows that the artist is feeling watched or judged. And a drawing of closing eyes shows a refusal to look within oneself.

There are many other types of eyes, from realistic eyes complete with light reflection, anime-style eyes, eyes from different angles, different pupil colors or eyelids thickness, etc. there is no end when it comes to eyes, you can keep drawing forever.

Animals

Another popular drawing that people do is animals. You can draw your pets at home, maybe you have a cat or a dog or an iguana. Just draw your pet whenever you get the chance. Tell them to sit still and give them a treat once you’re finished.

You can try drawing your pet from memory alone for more challenge. You can also try drawing other animals. The more uncommon the animal is the more difficult it will be. For example, drawing a ferret would be more difficult than drawing a mouse, Mickey Mouse comes to mind.

You can start with roses. Roses are easy to draw, perfect for beginners. Tulips are also easy to draw. Start with simple shapes, the line for the stem and oval shape for the petals. Add more details to the petals if you want. And the last step is refining the shapes even further with smaller details.

Naturally, you start with one or two kinds of flowers. Then you can add more and more flowers and create a whole garden. This is where you can start experimenting with colors. Seeing a drawing of flowers with many colors is really satisfying.

Fruits

There is no way we can leave out fruits when it comes to drawing objects. Every art student has drawn fruits at least once. It’s even mandatory to draw fruits. And just like flowers, drawing fruits teaches you how to apply colors to your creation.

Some easy fruits to draw are banana, apple, pear, and orange. You can mix them all together and put them in a basket to make one of those classic fruit drawings.

Inanimate objects

If you’re feeling like drawing and have no idea what to draw, just draw anything near you. Inanimate objects are everywhere, and you can draw them without any interruption since they’re not moving of course.

Start with your phone, everyone has their phone next to them at all times. By drawing your phone, you can also stop yourself from looking at it and distracting you all the time. Other easy and simple objects are TVs, clothes, wardrobes, etc.

Shading

Last but not least is shading. What is shading? Shading is the darkening or coloring process to make the depiction of perception and lighting. Think of everything that you’ve drawn until now, be it eyes, animals, or flowers, now add shading to it. Now your drawing has more depth and realism to it.

Think of a can of soda, now point a flashlight to it. You can see its shadow on the floor and that’s what shading going to add to your drawing. You can start with simple objects, like a cylinder, a cube, or a pyramid. Determine where the light source comes from and start shading.

With enough practice, you can shade anything and it’s incredibly fun. The key to being better at drawing is to keep practicing. Set a goal for yourself and see how far you can improve in a specific period of time. And before you know it, you’re no longer bored at home.
