How to Create the Perfect Skin Care Routine

Did you know that the skin is the largest organ in the human body? If you were to stretch it out, it would cover 2 square meters.

Despite that, it’s quite delicate—even at its thickest point, it’s only a few millimeters thick. That’s why proper skin care is so important; it’ll allow you to prevent problems before they happen.

Are you thinking of starting a beauty routine? Looking for a guide on what to do? If so, you’re at the right place.

We’ll be going over all the steps in detail below. Keep reading for everything that you need to know (including beauty tips)!

1. Wash Your Face

Wash your face twice a day in the morning and at night—even if you don’t wear makeup. That’ll prevent the buildup of dirt, oils, and other debris, which can otherwise clog your pores.

For the best results, use a gentle cleanser. Apply a small amount of the product onto your hands and gently massage your face in a circular motion. Rinse your face afterward with cool water and pat it dry with a clean towel.

Avoid facial products with alcohols, parabens, and fragrances; they can irritate your skin and cause breakouts.

Tip: For those who wear makeup, consider using a cleansing oil—they’re one of the best products that you can use to clean your face with. Depending on what you wear, you may also need a dedicated eye makeup remover.

2. Apply a Toner

The next step is to apply a toner; it’ll remove any excess residue from cleansing and prep the skin for the next steps of your skin care routine.

Pour a few drops of the product into your palms and gently spread it over your face. If you want, you can also use a cotton pad (you want it to be damp but not overly saturated).

Keep in mind, however, that some toners (e.g. those containing glycolic acid) should only be used at night. Hydrating formulas, on the other hand, can be used twice a day.

3. Apply a Serum and Moisturize

Serums are different from moisturizers in that they deliver active ingredients into your skin. For example, they may contain vitamin C, alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA), or lactic acid.

For the best results, apply it while the skin is still damp. Allow it to fully absorb (it usually takes around 5 minutes) and hydrate the skin with a moisturizer. We recommend using a lotion that contains humectants such as urea, glycerin, or hyaluronic acid.

Also, you want to make sure that it’s non-comedogenic. That way, you won’t have to worry about it clogging your pores.

Building the Perfect Beauty Routine

Having a beauty routine is essential if you want to keep your skin healthy. It might take some getting used to, especially with all the beauty products that it involves, but it’s definitely worth it.
